Wild One Birthday Cake

We are celebrating our little one’s first birthday today! I only have a few minutes before our guests begin to arrive, but I wanted to share her birthday cake real quick. It turned out so cute!

Here’s what I used:

  • Trader Joe’s Party Cake (I also picked up a Strawberry Cheesecake and baked GF cupcakes.)
  • Ostheimer’s Baby Forest Animals (So many options! I used the Roe Fawn Head High, Fox Small Sitting, Rabbit Small Classic, Bear Small Sitting, Wolf Small Playing, Hedgehog Small. You can find a set of most of them over at Nova Natural or individually at The Wooden Wagon. Watch for coupon codes and sales.)
  • Scrapbook Paper, Scissors, Glue Stick (to make tiny little party hats for the baby animals)
  • Pearl Beads and Tiny Pompoms (I used a dab of hot glue to add these to a few of the hats.)
  • Wild One Cupcake Topper
Crafting tiny little party hats for all the forest babies…
I ended up making a little crown for the baby bear.

It’s been a long time since I’ve used my Cricut but I pulled it out to make a highchair banner and food labels. I’m sure I’ll be back with the rest of the pictures soon. First birthdays are so much fun!

Happy Birthday to your sweet little girl! I love first birthdays, too, and I enjoy seeing how you delight in your children–as I do in ours. Since she was born on our fourth anniversary, her first birthday coincides with our fifth. We attended the FSSP Sacred Heart feast day Mass in Dayton, OH (where we are at the moment) and received a beautiful blessing, also renewing our vows. One thing that stands out was how the priest enthusiastically spoke of the blessing of our having three children already… it was so uplifting in a world where that is often seen as "having my hands full." I also am encouraged by other families like yours! Thank you for that witness.

Your talent and creativity is just awesome. Sha she is absolutely precious and it's great to see her growing and changing. I have 2 grown sons (no girls) so I missed all of the pretty, frilly, pink stuff. Get to see it with your little one though. God Bless y'all for the GREAT Catholic example y'all are not only setting for your children but for the many here that view this site.

What a perfectly sweet birthday cake for your little one!!! I love your theme for Grace's first Birth Day. All of your birthday themes are so unique Jessica…The high chair banner you created is adorable…I love the sweet little woodland animals. Decorations on the cake turn into playtime friends for Grace…Great idea!

Gosh that's so lovely! Love how the adorable tiny birthday hats announce that this is a birthday cake. Your "Wild One" topper pulls it all together in such a meaningful way for Grace's 1st. Thinking that minus the hats plus a statue of St. Francis of Assisi your idea would make a pretty wonderful feast day cake too! Can't wait to see more of your (always terrific) photos.

Everything is just perfect! Your family is your number one priority and it shows. Thank you for shining so bright! How do you keep so many beautiful toys, books, and craft supplies tucked away? Your house always looks so clear of distraction and so lovely.

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure.
