Snow Day

by | Dec 14, 2015 | Christmas 2015, Snow | 6 comments

We woke up early this morning on the feast of St. Lucia, Saint of Light, to a power outage and our first snowfall since December 2013‪#‎gaudetesunday‬ ‪#‎santaluciabreadpostponed‬‪ #‎lightthecandles‬

After a fun day playing in the snow, and checking out the raging river, our annual Santa Lucia Braided Bread is rising near the fireplace for the girls to bake and then serve in the morning.

Hi Jessica! Great pics of the snow covered land! I'm sure your kids had a blast. I have an unrelated question: how do you handle electronics with your children…specifically your older children? Do they have iPod touches, video games, computers etc…? My 12 yr old son has been wanting an iPod touch for so long cause everyone on his soccer team has one and that's how they all communicate. I just want to hear from other like-minded moms and their stance on this whole digital age we are encountering. God bless! xoxo

Oh, what fun! It looks like a delightful day. The landscape around you is so beautiful in the snow. We're having strangely warm weather here – it was 65 yesterday! PS When we saw the picture of your husband in the snow my kids said, "He looks like a chaplain!" 😉

Beautiful! We're beginning to wonder if it will ever get cold here in Texas! This time last year, we had already had an ice storm! (Not that I want one 🙂 )

Awesome! What fun! We didn't get that much snow down here. Our snow play involved very wet snowballs in the parking lot at church. Mama was not amused. lol

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
