Summer Fun :: Paint By Number

by | Aug 5, 2014 | Art, Kids Artwork, Paint-by-Number, Precious Moments: 03, Precious Moments: 04 | 16 comments

A few years ago the girls were each given a Paint-by-Number Craft Kit for Christmas from one of their uncles. They were a little young for them at the time, but inspired by our most recent Meet-the-Masters lesson on Claude Monet (a favorite from Tract A which I still need to blog about!) they asked if they could try painting the pictures. After a couple late nights and extra early mornings, the girls were able to complete their paintings before their Daddy and older brothers arrived home from summer camp on July 19th.  I had no idea that a paint-by-number could turn out so nicely, or that our little artists would enjoy them so much!

Your girls did a great job on the paintings, and I hope you frame the paintings and put them on display.

So beautiful! What age range did you use on your children for Meet the Masters – the 5-7 year old Track A or the 8-9 year old Track A? Looks like such a fun and worthwhile program! Thanks!

Those would be so lovely to frame and hang in a powder room! Great job!

Thank you, Jennifer! I ended up coming down with an awful head cold on Monday… probably since I had been overdoing it the past month with Sean out of town so much, and not sleeping very well! I'm so thankful he is back home safely. I slept better last night than I had in a long time! 🙂

Yes, we are planning on framing them, just as soon as I can get to the store to purchase a couple white frames. In the meantime we've used a little bit of tack adhesive to hang them on the wall.

I was so impressed with their hard work and patience! And I kept wishing I had my own paint-by-number so I could join the fun! Next time! 🙂

We actually used the 10-Adult version of Track A and plan to continue with the 10-Adult for the remaining tracks. I started last school year with a 13, 12, 10, 8, and 6 year old (and my pre-schooler loved creating many of the art projects too, with a little help). I decided to go with the program for my oldest students, simplifying it on my own, if necessary, for the younger children. It worked out well for us. Purchasing multiple levels is always an option, but I needed to keep it as simple as possible if I hoped to actually use the program. 😉 We have completed Track A and are all looking forward to continuing Meet the Masters this upcoming school year.

Thanks, Barbara! The girls didn't have very much hanging on their bedroom walls, so we decided to hang them in their room. They look so pretty against the soft yellow walls and will probably look even better once I put them in some frames.

I was lucky enough to see their art work in person and it is lovely! They did a beautiful job and it makes me think that some little 8 year old I know might get one for Christmas!

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
