“In a neat little village
all covered in snow,
sleep apple-cheeked children
their hearts all aglow,
dreaming of morning, when they will awake,
hungry for cookies their mothers will bake.”

And so begins the story of The Christmas Cookies Sprinkle Snitcher written by Robert Kraus over 40 years ago, and finally republished in 2010.  Our children were very excited to discover this book in our Advent Book Basket this past Advent!

Originally I planned to bake sugar cookies (in preparation for Christmas) the day they opened the book and read it for the first time, but since I was recovering from a sinus infection it was postponed until after Christmas.

So yesterday, after sharing how Cookie Cutters Tell the Story of Christmas, I pulled out a bunch of our Christmas Sprinkles and we used some more of our sugar cookie dough to cut out additional cookies to decorate.
We were finally able to try out the fun new snowflake cookie cutter that I had picked up for the Sound of Music Birthday Party, but didn’t have the time to use…

…and thankfully the Sprinkle Snitcher hadn’t found my stash of sprinkles! 😉

The kids had a blast, and doing all these fun activities during the Twelve Days of Christmas, instead of before, has been an excellent way to really celebrate the Christmas season this year!  (Even though it has been awfully hard to resist all these delicious looking cookies with my New Year’s resolutions, I have been successful!  And I’ve even walked/ jogged 20 miles on the treadmill over the first 4 days of this new year!  Woohoo!! Hopefully I can actually keep it up once we start back to school next week!)

Happy 11th Day of Christmas!
I’ll try and post our plans for Twelfth Night a little later this evening…

OK, I'm on strict orders to not buy anything right now, but when I want to buy this book, is it best to use the link you linked in your post, will you get the credit then?

Such a cute book, can't wait til next year to do the same (as you)

And way to go mama for working out every day!!! I can't wait to stop pumping–that will be one of the first things I add, exercise again!

Yes, if you visit my blog and click over to Amazon from one of my (many) links before making a purchase (of any kind – it doesn't have to be the book or product I link to) from Amazon, I do receive a commission! It usually ranges from 6-8% of the total purchase, which does add up! I am very VERY grateful to everyone that uses my links for their Amazon shopping! Even though I don't have Advertisers or Sponsors on my blog, the Amazon commissions are what is keeping me from having to look for an out of the home job right now. Thank you Jamie!

(Note: If you add the book to your Amazon wish list and purchase it at a later date, without visiting my blog first, I would not receive the commission.)

Thank you Jessica for adding that part about the wish list..is it the same for adding to the cart? I sometimes purchase right then and often put your things in my cart and don't always check out promptly, but eventually! Do you not get credit for those items? If that's the case I'll no longer do that–just about everything I do at Amazon comes from your recommendation and I want you to get credit—even if it's a printer 😉

I wasn't sure so I just logged into my Affiliate account to look into the details and found the following:

We will pay you advertising fees on Qualifying Purchases when: (a) a customer clicks through a Special Link on your site to the Amazon Site; (b) during a single Session that customer either (i) adds a Product to his or her shopping cart and places the order for that Product no later than 89 days following the customer’s initial click-through, (ii) purchases a Product via our 1-Click feature, or (iii) streams or downloads a Product from the Amazon Site if the Product is a Digital Product; and (c) the Product is shipped to or streamed or downloaded by, and paid for by, the customer.

A "Session" begins when a customer clicks through a Special Link on your site to the Amazon Site and ends upon the first to occur of the following: (x) 24 hours (y) the customer places an order for a Product that is not a Digital Product; or (z) the customer follows a Special Link to the Amazon Site that is not your Special Link.

I really appreciate your concern in wanting to make sure I receive the commissions! Thank you so much! 🙂

Is that a Wilton cookie cutter? My collection of Wilton's have held up better than any other and the kids use them for tracing, cutting sandwiches etc..etc..
Bravo and sticking to your resolution!

Jessica, I'm so glad you clarified this. I so appreciate all of the wonderful free content that you provide here (and the fact that there are no ads!) I hadn't realized that you also get credit even if we don't buy something you linked to. I have bought numerous things you linked — I am also an Amazon Prime member and buy loads of other stuff from Amazon too so I will do my best to visit here first and click through before I go to Amazon. It makes me happy to think that the purchases could benefit such a generous family! I also wanted to thank you for linking to the Etsy shop for the tenner beads — I need some and they are lovely! Oh, and we love your Mexican polenta dish. So many wonderful things on your blog — and so many beautiful faith-filled moments! God Bless! Julie

Yes, they are great cookie cutters, aren't they?! I need to start collecting more of them to replace some of our old ones. 🙂

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
