Little Flowers Girls’ Club ~ Prudence

by | Nov 13, 2009 | Little Flowers, Little Flowers Wreath II | 7 comments

Well, today was our last Little Flowers Girls’ Club meeting until March, since I prudently decided to give myself a baby break from Dec-Feb!

I can’t believe we have already had FIVE meetings this year. Wow!! I am very thankful for the break, but I will miss our meetings and all the girls. My girls will too!! They have LOVED having so many of their little friends over every couple weeks.

Here are a few highlights from today’s meeting:

I hadn’t had much time prior to the meeting to think about ways to explain prudence to the girls, so before the meeting I did a quick search on the Little Flower Leaders Yahoo Group and ran across the suggestion to use the story of the Three Little Pigs. It was so easy, not to mention they loved it and it really helped them understand what being prudent means.

We then went on to discuss other ways in which we can be prudent, including practicing the Spiritual Works of Mercy. While we talked about the Spiritual Works of Mercy, the girls colored some pictures of the Spiritual Works of Mercy, which I had printed onto card stock and, once they were done, we cut into Flash Cards for them to take home. (This was from Catholic Artworks Teachers Helper Edition #17.)

~ Notebook Pages ~

I included the memory verse for Prudence, an image of St. Angela Merici, The Spiritual Works of Mercy, an image of a violet, and the prayer to St. Angela Merici from the Little Flowers Virtues CD.

(If you would like to download the document I created for this notebook page, you can do so here. Also, you can find links to all of my notebook page documents in this post.)

And here are the girls finished pages:
~ Craft ~
Our craft this month was decorating Flower Recipe Card Holders. I prepped the craft, by hot glueing the pieces in each kit together, which didn’t take too long. I had initially planned to have the girls paint them, but opted to have them just use markers instead, which was so much easier and cleaner!

Saint Angela, pray for us!
Please help us to exercise prudence
in everything we do!

Fantastic as always Jessica! Your notebook pages came out wonderfully and the snacks look super yummy. 🙂 And most importantly the girls look like they had a great time while learning an important virtue.

    Thanks so much for sharing.

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
