Lion Cupcakes for St. Mark

Well… Our cupcakes are made!! Thank you to Mary for the wonderfully easy recipe!!! They were such fun to make, and I’m sure the kids are going to love them!

Mine were thrown together rather quickly this morning! Can you tell? 🙂 I fell asleep early last night and only had an hour before the boys left for Mass this morning to whip them up.

My hubby ended up having the day off today, so he decided to take the boys hiking after Mass. Due to the drive, and gas costs–gas is up to $3.69 a gallon for regular!!–I stayed home with the three little ones so they could take the little car. It will be so nice for the boys to have some daddy time… And hiking on Arbor Day no less! Perfect!! I sent the camera, so I am hoping they take lots of pictures!

Anyhow, the boys took along the cupcakes, minus a couple for the girls, to share after Mass.

The lion, actually a winged lion, is the symbol of St. Mark the Evangelist, whose feast day is today. This symbol comes from St. Mark’s description of John the Baptist’s voice “crying out in the wilderness” upon hearing the Word of God (Mark 1:3). His voice is said to have sounded like that of a roaring lion. This lion symbolism also appears in a vision of the Prophet Ezekiel where four winged creatures represent the four evangelists (Ezekiel 1:10).

Well, I am off to do a few things with my girls and then get back to work on my closet. I just might be able to finish it today while they are napping!

I hope you all have a very blessed day!

Those are adorable!! So glad you got a little “girl” time in today! How nice. We went to Mass after music class today and we were drenched!! There will be no nature hikes here…it is like only 37 degrees out there and downpouring!! We are supposed to get 4 inches of snow overnight!!! Is it March? Do I have the months mixed up?

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure.
