On December 17, the Church begins to intensify the preparation for Christmas with the use of the "O" Antiphons during the Liturgy of the Hours. The symbols for the Jesse Tree from December 17 to 23 are based on the "O" Antiphons.
I plan on doing an extra activity or gift instead of a coloring page each day this week based on the selections in Celebrating the Faith in the Home Series. I have quoted the ideas under each date.

WOW, thanks for all that info. I feel I should pay you or something for all the work it took :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I still need my actual tree
Just to pass on an idea - last year in addition to the regular Jesse Tree stuff, we also acted out each Bible verse after reading it. The kids requested that we do it again this year. It helped the message sink in a bit more.
ReplyDeleteJessica,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for sharing your beautiful family with us and this awesome guide through Advent! I'm thrilled to have stumbled on your site and have already shared it.
I thought I saw printable ornaments that the children can color on your site , but have lost it. Am I crazy? (I'm asking you this b/c you don't me, anyone who does would surely answer yes!)
Your felt tree and ornaments are beautiful, I would love to do that next year, but since we're late, we made a tree on poster board tonight and I'd like to let them color the ornaments tomorrow.
I found some printable ornaments on another site but they don't seem to correspond with the readings as well as yours.
Hi Krista! Even I was confused for a moment when I saw your comment! lol! I just realized that you left it here, on my post for last year. If you go to this years updated post, you will find the links:

I'm so glad you found it helpful! God Bless!
Jessica, thanks so much!!! I did a google search this afternoon using the words "jesse tree coloring ornaments" and your Advent posting came up as the second site on a list of 6+ pages... you go girl!!!
ReplyDeleteYou included the links plain as day (guess I should open my eyes when I'm reading! But reading+ mom with baby= tendency to close eyes!)
The first pdf file w/ the coloring pages seems to be non existent now so I'll just print out the others (I'll let my Samuel color the ones from the other site since I promised him he'd be able to color ornaments tomorrow)
I'm so thankful to have found your site and anxious to explore it.
Is there a way for me to send you a private message? I'd like to tell you about our sites as well.
Jessica-Please accept my humble apology for posting so many messages tonight! Is there any way for you to just delete my last message? I tried to open the pdf file again and see now that I had a user error problem the first time, it's there, I've printed. These are GREAT! You're the best!
ReplyDeleteI thought I was posting my last message under my email address but see it linked to a blog page I signed up for but never found the time to do anything with. That is not the site I wanted to share! We're Roman Catholic as well and wanted to share the links to our sites... however, I'm afraid I'd do them and injustice after my crazy postings tonight! I'm so sorry!
Thank you again so much for your site, all the info AND the great links! You have blessed our family, may God bless yours!
Oh don't worry about it at all Krista!!! :) I'm so glad it is all working out.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool that it brings up my post in the Google search.. I just wish it brought up THIS years version instead of last years :)
If you'd like to email me your site, click on "view my complete profile" towards the top in the left sidebar next to the pick rose, and then click on Email in the Contact box on the left. I'd love to see it!
I just realized that you can also click on my name here in the comments and it will also take you to my profile. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!
ReplyDelete...please where can I buy a unicorn?
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all your hard work and research Jessica! I can't wait to start this beautiful tradition with my family this year!
