Scenes from a Summer's Day ~ Aug 7th
We had busy yet fun day of swimming followed by Summer with the Saints. I'll try and post a few pictures soon, but in the meantime, any guesses on which saint was featured this week?

St. Ignatius of Loyola
On to happier things (at least here on my blog)...
Yesterday the children woke up and were so excited that it was *Thursday* once again. Meaning, that it was time for:
Summer with the Saints
Captain was especially excited since it was also the feast of St. Ignatius of Loyola, as well as his baptismal anniversary!
When we arrived, we headed around to Marci's backyard. Just like each of the prior weeks, Marci had a number of tables set up with different activities for the children.
She must be spending so much time and effort putting this on for all of us! Everything is always so fun and well thought out. It has been such a wonderful blessing for my family!
Today's theme was (quite appropriately)
St. Ignatius of Loyola!
The children began the morning coloring pictures of St. Ignatius, while Marci read them a short story about his life.
Then it was snack time. Marci made Ignacio, a cake for St. Ignatius Day found in Cooking with the Saints, as well as a few miniature "gluten and dairy free" cakes for a few of us unlucky ones. Isn't she so thoughtful!!??!!
For the craft project today, the children made little miniature pictures of churches, to represent the "Order of the Jesuits," since St. Ignatius founded this order.
Marci came up with these all on her own too! Didn't they turn out cute?
Once again we are all counting down the days till next Thursday!!
I wonder which Saint is up next... Any guesses??

Next they moved on to another table to make holy cards to add to their growing collection.

I did cheat on my diet and tasted this delicious cake despite the gluten, dairy, sugar, almonds and everything else I am not "suppose" to have... (I have been cheating quite often lately... It's awful!)

This week, it ended up just being Marci's family and us. Which was just as nice as a large group! My children had a wonderful time.

Christmas in July!
We had such fun last week, that we rearranged our Thursday plans so we could continue attending:
Summer with the Saints
Marci once again, did an amazing job, and my children had a WONDERFUL time.
Today the theme was Christmas in July!
When we arrived, Marci had a number of tables set up with different activities for the children.
At one table they were able to color pictures of St. Nicholas.
At another table they could make and decorate holy cards of St. Nicholas.
My children especially loved being able to work with glitter, since I rarely (as in never) get it out at our home. ☺
They even got to make some super cute St. Nicholas Figures.
After all the crafts and coloring were completed, Marci had a fun game planned for the children called Roll for St. Nicholas! The winners were even able to choose from a basket of school supplies!

Following the game it was snack time and the kids were treated to Candy Cane Cookies and Hot Cocoa.
Yum!!!!!
The weather even cooperated, and it was nice and cool this morning!
This week there was a total of 25 children from 6 different families. It was so nice to see Amy, and I have been loving spending time with Trina this month. I am going to miss her so much when she and her family head back home next week. Wahhhh!
It was another great week and we are, once again, already looking forward to next Thursday!!!

Heavenly Fun!
My friend Marci is hosting a weekly get together at her home, throughout the summer, called:
In honor of yesterday's feast, todays featured Saint was Our Lady of Mount Carmel.
Marci had so much fun stuff planned. The children were able to color pictures of Our Lady and St. Simon Stock, make holy cards of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, eat "Carmel" Corn, and even assemble new scapulars!
There were 4 families: Marci's family, my family, my good friend Trina (who is in town for the month!) and her family, and a childhood friend of mine and Trina's, Maria, and her 3 daughters, who Marci was kind enough to include. Even though there was only us 4 families, we had a total of 19 children!!! Gotta love it!!!
It has been so nice to be able to spend time a little time with my darling Goddaughter, and for Twinkle Toes to be able to spend time with her Godmother, Trina!
Godmothers with Goddaughters
Thank you Marci for having us! We are looking forward to next week!
