Ka-chow! A Lightning McQueen Birthday Cake

Our little Snuggles is five years old today!   He requested a "Cars" themed cake, which I was extremely tempted to just order from the store, but I ended up deciding to give it a shot using this cake as inspiration.   It is far from perfect, but I thought it turned out pretty good, especially considering that I was decorating it late last night (or should I say really early this morning) while juggling a cranky six month old.  The birthday boy was super excited and absolutely LOVED his cake when he discovered it as soon as he woke up this morning.   It was totally worth the extra effort, as usual!

His little best friend is here to celebrate with us, whose three older brothers will be coming over as well.  Hubby will pick them up at golf camp, along with our big kids, in about an hour, so I better get back into the kitchen to finish up the rest of the goodies I am making to go along with the cake.   I'm sure I will be back with a more pictures!  It's going to be another fun day!

 Happy 5th Birthday Snuggles!

{pretty, happy, funny, real}

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life. ~

{pretty}

This was one of my favorite pictures of my pretty girl, taken during her Early American Pioneer Party, on her birthday.

{happy}

Our boys were very happy and excited to dress up for their sister's birthday party.   Especially when they got to wear their Daddy's old cowboy hats from his Rodeo Days.

{funny}

I know I already posted this picture a couple days ago, but take a closer look at it...
Notice anything that doesn't belong?

Now?  If not, don't feel bad, I sure didn't...
I was focused on the birthday girl, not that mischievous little 2 year old of ours.

It took me a few hours, and quite a few pictures, to finally find that missing nursing pad I had lost that afternoon when feeding the baby!  She refused to give it back, shoving it further down her shirt.

That little one of ours always loves "her" accessories!

Too much fun for this little cowboy, who rarely naps anymore.
He sure looked cute passed out on the couch!

{pretty, happy, funny, real} :: 4 months old!

~ Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life. ~

{pretty}

Our pretty handsome little Bud is 4 months old today! I took him to see the Pediatrician on Monday (to have his ears looked at - they were fine) and he is already weighing 13 pounds.

{happy}

Bud's activity gym and new friend, Mortimer the Moose, make him very happy...

... and so does his big brother!

Seeing precious moments like this one make ME very happy!

{funny}

Bud is getting real close to rolling over!  With all of his attempts yesterday, I thought for sure he'd make it onto his tummy.  It's just that one arm that keeps getting in his way.

I'm sure it won't be long!

{this moment}

I have so many pictures I would love to share, but they are going to have to wait... I've been too busy enjoying and snuggling with this sweet little guy, who doesn't like to be put down for more than 10-20 minutes at a time - day or night.   Not that I'm complaining, I just seem to have forgotten how to multitask.  ;)

These pictures were taken during one of those brief hands-free moments this afternoon, allowing me to play with another favorite Christmas gift!  As you can see, I'm not the only one that Bud has wrapped around his tiny fingers!

I hope you are all having a very peaceful and blessed Christmastide!

Funny Faces

My friend Amy's daughter Lily is hosting a photo contest on her blog for "Funny Faces."  Here is my entry, a picture of my three boys (aka: servers on break) taken at their sister's Birthday ParTEA:

Capturing the context of contentment in everyday life.

I'll be back soon with more pictures from Captain's Medieval Knights, Dragons and Castles birthday party, but here are a few in the meantime...  Now back to cleaning up the house after all the fun!

Snuggles stared at the cake forever, keeping his little fingers safely tucked under his chin...

... that is, until I left the room! I came back to find him with a mouth full of milk chocolate rocks, and some finger prints all over the left tower.  I was able to somewhat smooth it out before the older kids got home, but since I was out of black spray, you could still tell.  The little stinker!

Our Paschal Candle placed inside our former Crown of Thorns.
Thank you Charlotte, for the suggestion of picking up the tiny flowers from the wedding section at Michaels!  They worked perfectly and looked so pretty!!

{happy}

It has been over 7 years since all 12 of us have been together at the same time, but I was happy to spend Easter with six of my siblings, including these three brothers - David, Paul, and Scott!

{funny}

Hearing Chiquita's reaction while making cookies on Holy Saturday:
"Aw, man! There is candy on my finger and I can't even lick it because it is STILL LENT!!"

{real}

"Oh no... There is more on my dinner plate than just a plain white dinner roll..."
