All Saints Bingo :: A 30 Card Printable Bingo Set

In preparation for this year's All Hallows' Eve Party, I have been working on a few new games. This year, instead of organizing and/or attending a homeschool party, we will be hosting one at our home and inviting some of our close friends and family. It is going to be so much fun!

We've decided not to do any of the carnival style games this year, but rather some fun outdoor group games. I have also been working on a few indoor games, in case the weather isn't very cooperative, or for after it gets too dark to stay outside.

One of the games I created was this All Saints Bingo Game!   I thought about ordering the Saint Search Game from Illuminated Ink, or downloading the 14 Saint Bingo cards from Catholic Mom, but I really wanted at least 30 variations of the cards so I decided to create my own set.

Of course I had to do so in the most difficult way (without the help of an online bingo generator) since I really had a specific idea in mind and wanted to include pictures of all the saints with a free space in the center.

Here is a sample of one of the cards that I came up with:

All of the 67 saint images that I choose to include are from the Picture Book of Saints by Father Lovasik and will be easily recognized by my children.   I titled each card with "SAINT,"  listed each saint's name under their picture, and then put "Ora Pro Nobis!"  (Pray for us!) in the free space.  For markers I decided to use clear and gold glass gems.

I printed the cards on 8.5"x11" white card stock and, trimmed them (though that wasn't really necessary, and then started laminating them, along with all the small bingo call cards.  Tomorrow I plan to laminate the rest, just as soon as I have some more  laminating pouches...  I ran out!

If you'd like, you can download my documents here:

(Includes 30 original cards)

Update: You can see pictures of All Saints Bingo being played at our Annual All Saints' Party in 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014

St. Martha's Cake Walk

This year, for our Homeschool Group's All Saints Party, each family was asked to bring one game.  Deciding which one to bring was so hard (there are so many fun ideas!) but I finally settled on doing a "St. Martha's Cake Walk."

Basically I set it up like our past Musical Saints, but instead of the children winning a candy when their saint is called, they would get to choose one of the All Saints' Cupcakes!  (...or a lollipop for those that had already won a cupcake but wanted to keep playing.)

The children all enjoyed choosing their cupcakes!

Even some of our awesome teens joined the fun!

The game did get off to a rocky start (the cd player I borrowed refused to work so another friend ran home to get another one which ended up being broken as well, but then a talented dad was finally able to get the music going!  Whew!!), but in the end, it was the very last game being played!  (Thank you Hubby for keeping all the remaining children busy while the rest of us worked on cleaning up from the night!)

Note:  Playing Gregorian Chant for Kids makes for a very mellow and slow paced saintly cake walk.  lol!  :-)

Saint Martha, patron of cooks, pray for us!

Our Little Flowers' Tea Party 2010 ~ The Games

After each course of our Tea we had a game for the girls to play, while the tables were being reset with the next course.  At last year's Tea Party we played Setting the Table for Tea, The Tea Tray Memory Game, and She Loves It, She Loves It Not. They were all very fun, however I decided to change it up a bit this year and came up with a few new games at the very last minute, while waiting for paint on the favors to dry.  ;)

Here are the games we played this year:

~ Tea Party Bingo ~

In between our first and second course, we played Tea Party Bingo!   I found this game over at The Tea House Times.  (Here is a link to the pdf.)

Each girl was given a Bingo card and instructed to fill in the squares with the words from the provided list in the empty boxes, mixing them up so each player would have a different card.

When they were all done I read them the story.  When they heard a word that was on their card they marked it off and the first 4 girls to get Bingos were given a small prize!
"Dear Party Guests:

Thank you for coming to our Little Flowers Mother/Daughter “Tea” today. What better way to celebrate the completion of Wreath II than by having a “Tea Party” among “Friends.”

“Tea Time” was very popular during the Victorian Era. Tea Time became a way of life. It was Anna Maria, the Duchess of Bedford (one of “Queen Victoria’s” ladies-in-waiting) who left the most memorable impression of tea-drinking habits. Hunger between the midday and evening meals gave way to her new found custom of eating “cakes” and “sandwiches” with Afternoon Tea. The Afternoon Tea experience delighted Anna Maria so much that she repeated it daily. The Queen embraced Anna Maria’s ceremony of Afternoon Tea which became a much loved activity.

Traditionally, Afternoon Tea is served between three and five o’clock and includes several kinds of finger “sandwiches”, “scones”, mini desserts, “sweet breads”, and fancy “cakes”. The Victorian Hostess set out her finest china and silver for Tea. Nowadays, many of the fine Tea Rooms offer “Afternoon Tea” at any time of the day.

There are many ways to enjoy Afternoon Tea. Some like their tea with “milk” and “sugar” while enjoying a “scone” with “clotted cream” and “jam”. Some like to wear fancy “hats” and pretty “gloves” to tea. No matter how you enjoy tea, be sure to take out a pretty “tea cup” and “tea pot” often. Use a “strainer” for loose tea. Use a “tea cozy” overtop of your pretty pot to keep it warm while you enjoy time spent with friends & family. Get out your finest “silver”, your mismatched “china”, pretty linen “napkins” and favorite “teaspoon”. Appreciate the luxury Afternoon Tea brings along with the chance to linger with friends. Enjoy!"
It was very fun and a great way for the girls to learn a little bit about Tea Time!

~ Tea Tray Memory Game ~

After the second course, we started the Tea Tray Memory Game.

The girls were all given plenty of time to study the tray of items that Marci had put together.  We decided to wait until after the next game AND the third course of our tea before seeing what they could remember.   I was so surprised that a few of the girls were able to remember all 18 items!

Here is a link to the page I created to go along with the game, in case anyone would like a copy.

~ Wreath II Virtue Word Search ~

As soon as we covered up the Tea Tray the girls moved on to a Word Search I created, using the Virtues from Wreath II.  It actually started to rain for a few minutes, so the girls all headed inside for this game.  Thankfully it cleared up quickly so we could all go back outside for the last course of our tea.

The Word Search was quite challenging for some of the girls, but I think they all enjoyed it just the same!

I uploaded the Wreath II Virtue Word Search (plus solution) to Scrib to share, as well as another one I created using the Flowers from Wreath I.    Both of them were created using an online generator that provided text to create your own document.

~ Croquet ~

After our third course, and finishing the Tea Tray memory Game, the girls all played Croquet and Tic-Tac-Toe in the beautiful garden.

It ended up being such a beautiful and fun filled day!

A "Bun in the Oven" Dress Game

One of the games we played at the shower was a "Bun in the Oven" Dress Game. (I ran across this the idea at Labels Buy Design.)
To play: Pin an adorable handmade dress on each guest as they arrive. Each guest will wear the dress for the length of the shower. At some point announce that everyone is to open up the back of their dress. All dresses are stuffed with cotton to make the "belly." The winner is the guest who has the clay "Cini-Bun" (I used a button) inside.

Object of the game: To be the one with the dress with the clay "Cini-Bun"As each guest arrived they were able to choose a little handmade maternity dress to pin on. One of the dresses included a button (or rather "Bun in the Oven") and at the end of the shower.

Instead of purchasing the handmade pregnant momma dresses, I decided to try and make them myself, and they were actually very easy to make, and so cute pinned on to each guest. (I very much preferred them to the diaper pin games, where you can't say some word or another, or cross your legs, etc...)

Supplies:
  • Felt in various colors
  • hot glue gun and glue
  • cotton to stuff dresses
  • mini white bows
  • small safety pins
  • 1 button

Directions:

Cut dresses out of the felt. I made the dresses out of one piece of felt, using a little template I made out of cardstock, and then folding the back over.

Hot glue around the sides and bottom and fold over. (This leaves a little open pouch in the back of the dress.)

Hot glue the mini white bow onto the front of the dress.

Stuff dress with cotton and close with a safety pin.

Place 1 button inside one of the dresses for the lucky winner to find.
