Under Attack

I'm starting to think that maybe it wasn't such a great idea to teach my children how to make Popsicle Stick Grenades yesterday...   I tried, but I just couldn't keep this idea to myself, after Beth shared a link to the instructions.

My boys have been having a little too much fun!   Their latest creation is a "Popsicle Stick Bomb" - made by very carefully tying a whole bunch of "grenades" together with a shoelace and then swinging it towards mom the moving target.   I think it is time to set some "Grenade Free Zones!"  :)

Note to Self:

The next time you go on a field trip to an Artisan Chocolate Factory, it might be a good idea to turn any backwards signs around BEFORE giving all of your children a sample. . . Oops!

A Good Mail Day

Do you subscribe to Faith & Family?  It is one of the few magazines that I actually subscribe to, and definitely a favorite.

Earlier today, after receiving an email from a friend who had just received her copy, I sent the children out to check the mail.  The Spring edition had arrived and I had them turn to page 82.

Do those little faces look familiar?
You should have heard all the giggles!!

I have a feeling we will be hanging on to this edition!
As if I didn't keep them all already! lol!  I just wish the mailman would be a little more careful!

Scenes from Christmas Day :: Battle for the Bouncer

On Christmas Day, as I was preparing Brunch after Mass, I asked Captain to go and get Snuggles old bouncy chair from under the crib so I could use it for the baby.

Well apparently Snuggles was not quite ready to pass it down to his new little sister... He was not very happy when I placed her in it, and as soon as I took Rose back out of the chair, he immediately climbed in and tried buckling himself.

I think he was reminiscing about his days of being able to "Move it Move it." ;)

Well, the timer is about to go off, for the crown cake the girls and I have baking in the oven, so it is time for me to go... Hopefully I will be back later to finish posting our Christmas Pictures.

I hope you are all enjoying the traditional feast of the Epiphany today,
the 12th day of Christmas!

The Oregon Coast ~ Evacuation Instructions

Speaking of Tsunami Hazard Zones, here was a sweatshirt I wanted to buy for Hubby. He laughed when I pointed it out, but wouldn't let me, so I settled for just taking a picture of it instead...

Really, it was perfect for him! ;)

Back-to-School Schultütes

I used a combination of this and this tutorial and they were quite easy to make.  I especially liked using the wrapping paper on the Schultütes for the girls, they turned out so pretty!

We are now as ready as we are going to be (It just isn't possible to be totally ready, is it?), for our first day of school tomorrow, and my children are finally excited!   They have been begging all week to postpone school "just one more week."   Not any more! ;)

When do your children begin school for the year, and do you have any back to school traditions?  I think this just might be the start of one in our home.

Random Summertime Photography :: Slip 'n Slide

Or rather, Slip 'n Wipe Out!

(I was surprised the camera caught this exact moment earlier today.  Chiquita was fine and laughing when she sat up.  She then headed to the end of the line to try again!)

I can't help but smile...

...and then notice that Snuggles is wearing the same shirt that Captain was wearing 6 years ago today!

In My Purse

I've had a rather rough couple days... On Tuesday, while on our way home from an afternoon full of errands, I was picking up some produce from the farm and seemed to have damaged a nerve in my pointer finger/hand from carrying too many plastic bags at once.  (The numbness/tingling sensation has still not gone away, and is proving to be quite challenging at times.)  I do have an appointment with my doctor in a couple hours.  Anyhow, yesterday I was craving CHOCOLATE.  I thought, perhaps, it would distract from my hand. ;)  And not just any chocolate.  It had to be really good!!  When I saw the new Lindt chocolates, I couldn't resist.  Oh and look!! There are my Gymbucks peeking out from behind -- those won't be there long!! Life is good!

"He's on the front porch Mom!"

And I just let him out of my sight for a few minutes...

Hummmm, maybe I will join Renee's Random Summertime Photography Challenge!!  It would be fun to try and capture more of these random little moments which make me smile, and then start the bath! ;)

Bubble Fun!

This morning I loaded up the stroller and we drove down to our local track so I could walk. As our "special activity" for today, we brought along a fun bubble set that Chiquita was given for her birthday.

While my kiddos were having fun (and after I snapped a few pictures, of course), Snuggles and I were able to make it around the track 8 times!! (That sounds better than I only walked 2 miles, right?!)  It felt so nice to be outside walking once again.  Now, if I could just turn it into a daily habit...

*I also noticed that it looks like our little Chiquita and Karoline have yet another dress in common!   You'd never know that they live on opposite sides of the country... I'm thinking that Karoline's momma has super cute taste in dresses, don't you?!

"Hoopin' for Hope"

Last Saturday afternoon, the girls and I hurried home from our tea party to change clothes and head right back out the door with the rest of the family to attend a Basketball Game. Not just any game -- the Harlem Comedy All-Stars were in town and they are SO FUNNY!!

The Harlem All-Stars vs The International Sharp Shooters is a benefit game which showcases amazing basketball tricks and skills, plus plenty of hi-jinks and comedic hoop antics! Along with Basketball Hall of Fame Legend Meadowlark Lemon (also known as the "Clown Prince of Basketball") the game also starred: Harlem Globetrotter veteran “Hollywood” Brown and Harlem All-Star veteran “Pee Wee” Harrison.

All proceeds from the game went to the Hadley Hope Fund to be used to accelerate ethical scientific research for a cure for all afflicted with Niemann-Pick Type C Disease, including Peyton and Kayla Hadley.

My boys thought it was hilarious when they started playing
baseball instead of basketball!

There were over 1000 people in attendance and the evening was filled with laughs, stunts, food, and an exciting 1/2 time paper airplane contest!

If you look close you may notice that, even though Twinkle Toes arm is extended, her airplane is dropping behind her... We couldn't figure out how it got back there, until we saw this picture! lol!

The boys also each got there very own miniature basketball signed by a few of the players... You should have seen Rascal trying to imitate some of the stunts as we walked back to the car. It was so cute!

Before heading home, we went out to dinner with my Aunt and Uncle! Even though it was crazy busy, it was SUCH a FUN weekend!!

Peek-a-Boo

I just download a few pictures from my camera (for a recipe I am planning on posting at Catholic Cuisine), and I noticed that my hubby had taken a bunch of photos! This was my favorite:

What was I thinking?

I am so glad it isn't raining so I could send them all outside after all that candy... (I think they ate as much as they used making their "Winter Dessert Landscapes." It was a great way to get some of it out of the house though!!!

Cheap Toys

And no (Paula) I am not going to tell you all about another great deal! ;)

Snuggles was doing this for about 10 minutes straight before I grabbed the camera. It distracted him for a second and then he continued doing it for at least another 10 minutes. It was so funny! He had found these containers in a box of school "stuff" that needed to be put away. I'll have to keep these out!
