Grisley Grisell: A Tale of the Wars of the Roses {Review + Giveaway}

by | Oct 23, 2022 | Giveaway, Movies, Reviews, Sponsors | 50 comments

Industrious Family Films recently visited our parish for screening of their full length film followed by a meet and greet with the makers.  We weren’t able to attend but we watched Grisley Grisell: A Talk of the Wars of the Roses, a movie based on the novel by Charlotte M. Younge, on DVD this afternoon.
The production of Grisly Grisell admirably includes the entire family in its creation. It invites the audience to explore the lesser known intrigues of 15th century English monarchy.
Industrious Family Films has produced other movies as well including Outlaws of Ravenhurst and Max & Carlota: A Catholic Love Story
I look forward to seeing what they come up with next!

    I’m in the process of getting my kids a good Catholic movie collection. Since I’m not one of those awesome moms who can forbid tv all together, I’m hoping to fill them with good Catholic content. Thank you for this giveaway opportunity and letting me know about these movies.

    Besides homeschooling 6 kids, I am the youth leader at our parish (middle and high school). I showed the youth a video about Maria Goretti and it really impacted them.

    Our mom forbid tv altogether for a little while. That’s why we started making films so that children who share our values would have something to watch. I really hope you all enjoy the movies!

    I’d be curious to see what these films are like! We always loved “Outlaws of Ravenhurst” growing up, so much so it seems like every homeschool group had its own home made video of it 😄

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
