Baby’s First Mass

by | Jul 4, 2017 | Altar Boys, FSSP, Latin Mass, Precious Moments: 08 | 27 comments

After attempting it yesterday, this evening the baby and I finally made it to (and through!) Mass for the first time since she was born. It really helped that it was at home! One of my brothers-in-law made a last minute decision to make a really quick trip, flying all the way across the country, to baptize his niece after all!

Can I ask a couple of silly questions, does your brother in law bring his own unconsecrated hosts when he knows he will be doing a home Mass and does he also bring a Baptism certificate or do you have to go through your own priest for the official paperwork? I was just curious.

Yes, Father did bring unconsecrated hosts with him for Mass. As for the baptism/certificate, all the paperwork (as well as permission for Father to perform the baptism here in our diocese/parish) is processed through our local parish and the baptism took place at our local church this morning. Our pastor has been great about allowing my brother-in-laws to baptize and/or give our children their First Holy Communions.

Thank you! Mass was in our home last night, but her baptism, followed by another Mass, was at our local parish this morning. It was so beautiful!

Jessica Thank You for answering my questions. Y'all are so truly blessed to be able to do things the way you wish for your family and have the OK of the pastor to do them. God Bless you and yours.

It sure is! I wish we could see them more often. It had been 9 years since I had seen this brother-in-law, and ten years since he had visited our home! Way too long!

Hello! I know this is an old post, but could you provide a link for the sweet veil with the bow that your younger daughter is wearing? Thanks so much!

Sorry I never responded to this! That veil was from Robin's Nest Lane. She had closed her Etsy shop and Website for a number of years, but it looks like it is back now: https://tidd.ly/2OdZsKe

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
