Right now Amazon is offering The Puffin in Bloom Collection at a 40% discount, PLUS right now you can save an additional $10 (30% off one book, up to $10) with coupon code HOLIDAY30! I’ve been keeping an eye on this set, hoping to get it for my girls, and this is the lowest price I’ve seen it listed. I think I’m going to order it to include in one of my daughter’s Stacks of Books this upcoming Christmas.

Sean and I were at Barnes & Noble one night last week and I happened to see the brand new addition to The Puffin in Bloom Collection commemorating the 150th anniversary of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland this month!

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland is larger than the other Puffin in Bloom titles, and filled with lovely illustrations! However, after seeing the $30 price tag, I placed it back on the shelf. (It was too expensive, even with my Barnes & Noble Educator Discount.) With the 50% discount that Amazon is offering (up from 40% yesterday!) I am reconsidering it for this Christmas.

You can find additional books for girls here:

Do you know if these are the full version or abridged? I was looking at these a few weeks ago on Amazon, but it seems like so many of these books are abridged and my ten year old would really like to read the real version of some of these books vs. a kid version.

Sorry, this may be a silly question but how do you go about keeping an eye on discounts give to items you like on Amazon. Do you keep them in a wishlist and check on them regularly? Or perhaps check on deals of the day regularly? I'm not sure what the least time consuming method is. Would love to know how you find these offers! 🙂

From what I have been able to tell, from all the various reviews I was reading around the internet before making the purchase, they are unabridged, except for The Little Princess for some reason.

I have to say, I just bought the Little Women edition for my daughter for her birthday. While it is a beautiful book, it is rather cumbersome the way they made it. It's so incredibly thick! I really wonder how long it will be before the spine cracks. I ordered it from Amazon but I think if I had held it in the store first, I wouldn't have bought it. I wonder why the publisher made the decision to produce the book that way. Is Little Women really that much longer of a novel than all the other books?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Kim! I do think it's a much longer novel than the others in the collection. The version we have already, from my childhood (ISBN 0316031054), is 512 pages in a 5.5 x 1.2 x 8.2 inches book with small type. It looks like this Puffin In Bloom version is 816 pages in a 5.2 x 2.2 x 7.2 inches. The larger type and smaller page (and probably the hardcover too, compared to my paperback) sizes nearly doubles the thickness!

Hi Claire! Not silly at all! Yes, I did have these particular books on a wish list and had been keeping an eye on the price. I wish I had some great secret to share on how I find these deals, but it's usually pretty random… I enjoy browsing through new releases and reading reviews. Sometimes I happen to run across great deals! 🙂 There are a couple websites I use to double check the price history, to see if it is really a good deal or just an average sales price. According to those sites, $38.40 is the lowest Amazon has ever listed this collection for in the past, with the average price being $46.87 and the highest being $56.44.

Those are such beautiful books and such great classics for girls to read! It is so hard to find good books among all the other rubbish in the world. Thanks for sharing! God bless!

What are these websites you use to check price history? I had no idea you could do that. It sounds very helpful.

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.
