Our Goddaughter’s Holy Sacrament of Baptism

Our beautiful new goddaughter on her Baptismal Day – August 17, 2013
Loving God, Creator of all good things,
Thank you for the gift of life given to our goddaughter.

What a privilege it was for us to stand as witnesses for the Church
when our goddaughter was washed in baptismal waters.

Lord, help us to be faithful to you all the days of our lives.

Our older boys were honored to serve at the altar for the Baptismal Mass, which was also a 10th Anniversary/Renewal of Vows Mass for our dear friends.  We had missed their actual wedding 10 years ago since I was on bedrest with our oldest daughter.

As our goddaughter grows in age and faith,
enable us to be a good example for her
of how to live as a follower of Jesus.

Rose loves her godparent’s new baby, her brand new godsister!

Through our love and concern, in moments of joy and sorrow,
allow us to reveal your loving face, O God.

We pray this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

I ended up helping with all the food for the party and was so pleased that their Costco had a beautiful white cake on Saturday morning.      I had also happened to pack along a candy cross “just in case” to use as a cake topper.  Perfect!
I ran out of time before our trip to order a Baptismal Blanket, which ended up being just fine since another blanket (the one used for her five older siblings) was going to be used anyways.  Instead we gave our goddaughter a Sacramental Certificate and Pink Rosary Roses as a little baptismal gift.

Deo Gratias!

Your goddaughter looks just like a beautiful baby doll!! And what a gorgeous church to celebrate in. Many blessings on your family and your goddaughter's family.

Congratulations! She's so sweet! The crocheted flowers are such a neat idea; inspiring devotion to Our Lady at an early age.

    God bless,

Oh what a beautiful baptism! I love St. Francis of Assisi parish. We were honored to attend there a few times when Father Eric Andersen was there. It's so beautiful! And I second the sentiment about those crocheted roses. Love them!

What a beautiful baptism! Yes that used to be our parish when Fr. Eric Andersen was there! Actually we only live a few minutes away from St. Francis!

Congratulations! A wonderful Baptism! I also really love your outfit Jessica, especially your beautiful skirt. Would you mind sharing where you got it?

    Thanks and God Bless,

Thank you, Jennifer! I wasn't able to find a link, but I purchased the skirt earlier this year at Macy's. It is made by INC International Concepts. The top is a black 3/4 length "Merona" brand from Target, and the veil is a Black & Silver Spanish veil I purchased from Halo-Works (i think?) quite a few years ago.

Thank you Shaina! It is a beautiful parish! We miss Father Andersen SO MUCH! 🙂 He was in our area for just a few months and we pray that he comes back at some point.

We love the roses! We have a set of the red, but I plan to get another set of the pink roses to give to our little "Rose" later this year.

What a beautiful baptism and to be baptized by a Bishop! She is a very blessed little girl to have you as her godmother and I love the crocheted roses!

Thank you Kari! 🙂 This is the same bishop who married our friends in this parish 10 years ago, baptized all five of their other children, and even baptized the baby's Daddy in this same church many years ago!

A personal thank you for all the HELP you gave that day. I sat in awe of you and your husband, who was so patient with the kids while mama worked her tush off. I was the one who caught your baby trying to escape church during the baptism. Your photos captured the beauty of the ceremony, the joy of the mama. And the reception was lovely!

Doesn't she! When I first saw her she was being carried around by her oldest sister and could have easily been mistaken for a little baby doll. Oh, I love her!!

I was a little busy, wasn't I! 🙂 I was so glad to be there to help, especially knowing from personal experience just how hard it is to host a large baptismal party so soon after delivery. Thank you so much for catching our little man and I'm so sorry I didn't get to thank you personally (or even introduce myself!) at the party.

We might have competing prayers on that one my friend. Many of us from St. Cecilia's want him back too! 😉

I thought about trying to get in touch with you while we were in town, but it was just a whirlwind of a trip and every minute was filled from the time we arrived on Friday night until we left on Sunday. Hopefully it won't be too long before I can make it back (I must hold that baby again while she is still little!) and we can see you next time. 🙂

So neat to see you were in my neck of the woods! We live just 30 minutes south of your new goddaughter. Maybe next time you can afford a more leisurely trip, and maybe visit with our homeschool group…? You and your family are welcome in our home anytime. :o)

Beautiful ceremony. Congratulations! I have a little Godson and he is so special to my heart. You are obviously special yourself with 10 Godchildren.

Paul's Baptism is next Sunday, I'm so excited! I'll post some photos Sunday night.

Hope things are well with you and those fires are dying down.

Thanks so much Jessica. I think Macy's must not have the skirt any longer, but I will definitely keep that brand in mind from now on. Also, thanks for blessing everyone with your blog, I am always truly inspired when I visit!

Yes!! She is the 10th Godchild, for both Sean and I! (We have nine godchildren together and I'm godmother to my youngest brother and he is godfather to our niece – so 11 children all together.) Such a blessing… and such a huge responsibility!

Congratulations on Paul's upcoming Baptism! How exciting! I look forward to seeing the pictures!

I haven't had much of a chance to check the status of the fires, but we could see the smoke from a distance as we were headed home. It is still pretty bad. Sean is catching up on some of his regular job responsibilities and hoping to head back to the fires soon. Apparently there are more thunderstorms on the forecast which could mean even more fires.

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
