Stocking Up

Yes, we do go through a lot of glue, and no, I am not planning on glueing all my kids to their chairs!
We are almost ready to start the new school year and this year’s curriculum!  I feel like we should be started already (so many of you have!), especially with this baby due on January 1st, but it just hasn’t been possible.  This week I am finishing plans for the year, particularly working on my plans for Wreath IV of Little Flowers and our daughter’s 8th birthday party next week.  In the meantime we are going to enjoy these last two weeks of summer!

That glue really doesn't work well if you're trying to glue kids to a chair. You have a better chance of coloring on your skin with green crayon (oddly enough I've seen it happen) than getting that glue to hold a kid in a seat. If you had a box of tacky craft glue you could certainly glue kids in place.

I stocked up on glue sticks last year and wound up with way too much. I have 200 glue sticks sitting in my laundry room. I'll have to come of with lots of crafts for my kids and my religious ed class to use it all. Or, I can just go the traditional route and use them as a bribe for my younger daughter's teacher.

Good answer! That is probably how I should have responded to the clerk at Wal Mart!

Last year I bought 150 glue sticks, thinking I would have more than enough, but we ran out during my last Little Flowers Meeting of the year in May. This year I purchased 200. (But my boys will be making more lapbooks this year for History, and glue sticks really work the best.) Hopefully it will be the perfect amount! I guess we will see! 🙂

I'll have to remember to use glue sticks next time for our lap books. I hadn't even tried them because I thought the glue stick sticky wouldn't hold up. I had been using the Scotch adhesive rollers. But that gets pricey.

Heading to Walmart in the next 30 minutes anyway. I'm up to my eyeballs in fresh corncobs that I'm going to shave and bag to freeze and I ran out of baggies! I'm glad I scanned my iGoogle homepage before leaving. Thanks for the heads up!

Elm ~ They were .40 cents for two this year. It was actually pretty depressing realizing that, even on sale, I spent $40 just on GLUE! lol!

Kelly ~ We've always used glue sticks and they seem to hold up great! I've never tried the Scotch Rollers, so I couldn't compare, but we've never had any problems whatsoever.

Enjoy the last 2 weeks of summer. Never sure what the rush is to start earlier than the day after Labor Day.

So glad to hear someone else hasn't started back to school yet…we are enjoying the beautiful weather, it's been perfect – cooler, sunshine, awesome. I am anxious but keep reminding myself that there is no rush, when I grew up no one started before Labor Day. God bless your family and happy school days 🙂

That's a lot of glue! Of course you use lots to do the lapbooks and scrapbooks 🙂 It's my favorite kind too 🙂 We haven't started back yet either, though I had planned to. A baby mid-year has a way of derailing plans. We'll be starting around Labor Day too. Some more plans to pull together and things to acquire 🙂

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
