One of our favorite things this past month has been the weekly

Summer with the Saints

Marci has done an amazing job coordinating and hosting this get together each week! I feel so totally spoiled. Each week, I just show up with my children and they get to learn about the Saints, make Holy Cards, do a fun craft, eat symbolic snacks, and have a total blast. And as if that wasn’t enough, this week Marci even featured my favorite saint. Yep, Sara was right, it was in honor of St. Thérèse of Lisieux!

My kids (and I) were all so excited when we pulled up and saw the sign.

Captain said, “Yeah! I just knew it was going to be St. Thérèse!” Twinkle Toes said, “I love St. Thérèse!!!” I said, “Me too!” 😉

I snapped a quick picture of the kiddos squinting in the sun next to the sign and headed around to the backyard once again.

Right away, they all got busy coloring pictures of St. Thérèse. My children love to color!!

Next Marci served the cutest little rose cupcakes for a snack. Thank goodness that we were the only family attending this week, since my children practically ate all the cupcakes. I guess swimming makes my little ones extra hungry… I do feed them!

I didn’t get a very good picture of the cupcakes, but you can see them (along with lots of other cute photos) over at Marci’s blog.

Marci even made some delicious dairy/gluten free cupcakes. They were SO good!!! I am going to definitely pick up some of that mix. Yum!!!

Next they all moved onto making their St. Thérèse holy cards…

(They now have quite a nice collection!)

…followed by lots of playtime.

Then it was time to make paper roses! Even though they were a tinsy-winsy bit hard to make, with a little bit of folding…

…and a little bit of love…

…they all turned out beautifully!

I am sure St. Thérèse was smiling!

Marci even sent us home with a big box of hand-me-downs from my favorite children’s store! Thank you once again Marci, we had a wonderful time!

Novena to St. Thérèse

O Little Thérèse of the Child Jesus, please pick for me a rose from the heavenly gardens and send it to me as a message of love. O Little Flower of Jesus, ask God today to grant the favors I now place with confidence in your hands …(Mention specific requests)… St. Thérèse, help me to always believe as you did, in God’s great love for me, so that I might imitate your “Little Way” each day. Amen.

I am sooo glad that you posted pictures about the LOVE we blew into those roses. (I was only able to capture the finished ones.) They were JUST A LITTLE tinsy-winsy hard to make. But like you said, I am sure St. Therese was smiling and showering us with roses from heaven. Thanks again for coming and we can’t wait for more…

St. Therese, pray for us! What a lovely saint, pure of heart. She makes a wonderful patron saint for a parish and grade school, too! 😉 Glad you guys are having fun!

Awww… I love those pictures! The directions to make those flowers would be WONDERFUL! They’re beautiful.

Also, I love the swimming pictures you’ve taken. How on earth do the instructor’s get the baby’s to lay on their backs? I WISH we lived close to an instructor like yours – she sounds wonderful!

For anyone that is interested… The St. Therese coloring page was from a coloring book put out in 1995 from St. Bonaventure Publications. I have been unable to find it available, and have left a message for the publisher. Their phone number is 406-452-5452. The author is Madeline C.A. Martin. Marci actually found the book at a local Goodwill store, believe it or not. It is just lovely! I am hoping that I will be able to find a copy available.. We’ll see! :o)

Prayer of Mothers

Father in heaven, grant me the grace to appreciate the dignity which you have conferred on me. Let me realize that not even the Angels have been blessed with such a privilege—to share in your creative miracle and bring new Saints to heaven. Make me a good mother to all my children after the example of Mary, the Mother of your Son. Through the intercession of Jesus and Mary I ask your continued blessings on my family. Let us all be dedicated to your service on earth and attain the eternal happiness of your kingdom in heaven. Amen.

A Little About Me

Hi! I'm Jessica, a Roman Catholic wife and home educating mother to our nine children. I was home educated myself, along with my eleven younger siblings. I have a special devotion to St. Therese, through whom I have been given much help and many blessings--the beautiful "Shower of Roses" that she has sent my way! Here I will record a few of the blessings I treasure. Please remember that what you see here is just a little glimpse at our lives, so please say a prayer for us, as we continue to strive for holiness.
